About BEAT
We work on developing pupils individually, building confidence, dance skills and team work making each dancer blossom in skills as a street dancer and as a person. BEAT provides a happy and professional environment where everyone can learn and share their passion for street dance.
All students are encouraged to fulfil their full potential both as people and dancers. Classes have a positive, energetic vibe and dancers thrive throughout their time at BEAT.
Street Dance
Street Dance is the umbrella word used for the styles of Hip Hop, Popping, Locking, House, Bboying, Waacking and Krump. Originally started in clubs, streets and parties it is social and improvisational and can also be choreographed into routines.
Bboying/Breakin
Bboying is commonly known as break dance and consists of toprocks, downrocks, power moves and freezes. This involves foot work, floor work and acrobatic moves. A practitioner of this style is known as a B-boy or B-girl. This style is unique and very physical which is why BEAT hold separate classes for this style.
Testimonial from Ella
My name is Ella Andress and I am 15 years old. I have been dancing at BEAT for 11 years. I started when I was just 4 years old and from my very first class I was hooked and loved to dance.
BEAT has been a big part of my life that I have grown up with and Laura as my teacher.
When I started I was quite shy and would never have dreamt I would be able to perform in a show in front of an audience. However, Laura has helped me with my self confidence and has always believed in me. The atmosphere at BEAT is really like a big family and I have made friends for life.
I am now dancing in competitions and have had so many amazing opportunities I would never thought possible to do.
Laura has taught me to be a confident dancer and to perform to the best of my abilities but also to remain well grounded. Everything I have learnt from Laura has had a positive affect on my life growing up and for that I am very grateful.
