About BEAT
We work on developing pupils individually, building confidence, dance skills and team work making each dancer blossom in skills as a street dancer and as a person. BEAT provides a happy and professional environment where everyone can learn and share their passion for street dance.
All students are encouraged to fulfil their full potential both as people and dancers. Classes have a positive, energetic vibe and dancers thrive throughout their time at BEAT.
Street Dance
Street Dance is the umbrella word used for the styles of Hip Hop, Popping, Locking, House, Bboying, Waacking and Krump. Originally started in clubs, streets and parties it is social and improvisational and can also be choreographed into routines.
Bboying/Breakin
Bboying is commonly known as break dance and consists of toprocks, downrocks, power moves and freezes. This involves foot work, floor work and acrobatic moves. A practitioner of this style is known as a B-boy or B-girl. This style is unique and very physical which is why BEAT hold separate classes for this style.

BEAT has had a huge, positive impact on my son's and daughter's lives. My son was a very shy 5 year old before BEAT and thanks to Laura’s perseverance from the very start he has grown into a confident young man with some amazing friendships and pretty cool dance moves. He is now part of the teaching team.
BEAT isn’t just where they dance - it’s where they have made amazing friends, learned resilience, all about hard work whilst having fun.
They have been given so many opportunities to perform and the BEAT show is always their favourite! Beat has always been their happy place .

My daughter has been a BEAT dancer since she was 5 years old. Miss Laura came into her school to run a workshop and she was hooked! She can be quite shy and dancing with BEAT has really helped her confidence. She has performed in the front row of shows and danced solos in competitions.
She has made many good friends in her BEAT class.
Miss Laura is such a fantastic teacher. She is so encouraging and nurturing of every single dancer. She encourages teamwork, not competitiveness, and values each dancer, not just the best or most confident ones.
